Easter Monday in Turku
Today the weather is gray and cold. It rained a little earlier on. In Austria we don’t even appreciate how nice the weather is, how beautiful the seasons are. Here people are still quite shaken by the long dark winter.
We have a long talk about our future cooperation with the Gallery Titanik and our plans in connection with cultural capital Turku 2011.
As in most places, artist in Turku have to struggle to finance their art and their international contacts.
Yesterday, on Easter Monday, we went to a beautiful choir concert by Rachmaninov. The Key Ensemble sang the Easter Vesper. The fantastic performance in Russian language was enhanced by the acoustics in a Russian-Orthodox church. We sat in the Easter-atmosphere below the stars of the dome and thought of Gala Placidia in Ravenna.
Today started with more organizational talks and with unpacking of Aurelia’s work. Her silk pieces, our catalogues and posters, and Inge’s work were shipped here by mail.
After this we will meet Kim, Peter and Reino for further talks at the Abo Academy, the Swedish University in Turku.
